The May issue of Bass Player magazine has an interview with one third of the Adrian Belew Power Trio, Julie Slick. In it she discusses playing King Crimson bass lines with Adrian and her experiences at Paul Green’s School of Rock. You can read the interview here.

The June issue of Guitar Player magazine has an interview with Adrian Belew in which he talks about the power trio and upcoming shows with King Crimson. You can access Barry Cleveland’s interview here and also read some web only content not in the print edition.
The July issue of Guitar Player also features Adrian in their ‘Oeuvre Easy’ column which looks at his career and classifies some of his music as inspired/required/and tired. Today we find some very cool info from our friends at DGM…
As has become almost a sort of tradition, Nashville will be the public warmup location of choice for this August’s Crim tour. You’ll find a pair of dates, August 2nd, and 3rd at the Belcourt where the mighty Crim will once again awaken from its slumber.
Belcourt is not a terribly huge venue, (about 334 seats or so), so expect these to go fast!
The excellent band no-man whose core members consist of Steven Wilson on instrumentation and Tim Bowness’ amazing voice is set to release their next studio album entitled “Schoolyard Ghosts” on May 12th.
What gives this a Crim spin is that this album features some guest appearances from Pat Mastelotto and Gavin Harrison amongst many others, in fact, here’s a snippet of the writeup:
A distinctive combination of beautifully detailed songwriting, haunting melodies and inventively cinematic production, ‘Schoolyard Ghosts’ sees Tim and Steven expanding the band’s sonic palette yet again by collaborating with (amongst others) Californian pedal steel guitar ace Bruce Kaphan (American Music Club, Red House Painters), drummers Pat Mastelotto(King Crimson, Mastica) and Gavin Harrison (Porcupine Tree, King Crimson), saxophonist/flautist Theo Travis, and the London Session Orchestra arranged by Dave Stewart(Hatfield & The North, Egg, Stewart & Gaskin etc).

It’s been on Youtube since December, but somehow, I managed to miss it. Don’t you hate it when real life gets in the way of Krimson News?
Anyways, Jeremy Frindel directed this music video of the song, “Speedbump”, from the Stickman CD which came out late last year.
The word via The Seaweed Farm brings news that Gavin Harrison is currently working in King Crimson for rehearsals in preparation for the August shows. Vibrations on the net are indicating that the rehearsals are going well and that Crim is very much a rocking beast in this lineup.
After Gavin wraps up the KC rehearsals he’s off to play with Porcupine Tree for a few dates this spring and summer before rejoining King Crimson in August. You can find more info on the Porcupine Tree tourdate info at their website HERE. To go along with all of that he’ll be at the Geelong Drum Festival “Drumania” near Melbourne as well as the Green Room on April 29th and 30th respectively.
I wonder how many miles he has on that drumkit? He’s likely due for an oil change!
Color me shocked and amazed, yes, that’s right, LTE is back together for a few cross country US dates. Consisting of Mike Portnoy on drums, John Petrucci on guitar, Jordan Rudess on keyboards, and “Papabear” Tony Levin on bass, LTE currently has 6 shows at 5 locations, in 5 days, doing two shows at BB King’s in New York City.
The second show at New York City is due to the first show already being sold out.
Bringing together what is essentially a mash up of Dream Theater meets King Crimson’s bassist, their pair of releases over the last several years have met with very good reception and reviews, and you’ll kick yourself missing one of these shows if you have the opportunity to make it to one.
